Information we collect
What we collect depends on how you use TourneyFindr:
- Browsing and device information: basic request data such as IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, referring page, and approximate location derived from an IP address.
- Account information: your email address, authentication records, account type, and information needed to keep you signed in. Password authentication is handled through Supabase. TourneyFindr does not receive your password in plain text.
- Team Passport information: details you choose to save, such as team and association name, location, division, level, gender category, search radius, manager contact details, application notes, alert choices, saved tournaments, and application history.
- Organizer information: account and organization details, tournament listing content, organizer contact details, claim and verification records, application preferences, and changes made to listings.
- Submissions and messages: public tournament links, listing corrections, issue reports, and information you send by email. A tournament-link submission also uses a one-way hash based on the submitting IP address to enforce submission limits.
- Public listing information: tournament facts, registration details, organizer contact information, source links, and posters collected from public or approved tournament sources.
How we use information
We use information to operate and secure TourneyFindr, publish and improve tournament listings, provide search and maps, manage accounts and organizer claims, process team applications, send requested emails and alerts, respond to questions, prevent abuse, and understand how the site is used.
Team Passport details remain private to the signed-in account. When a team submits an application through TourneyFindr, the application details needed to review it are shared with that tournament's organizer.
Cookies and similar technology
TourneyFindr uses cookies needed for sign-in, account sessions, security, and other core site functions. If Google Analytics is enabled, it may use cookies or similar technology to measure visits and interactions. Google receives information such as the page URL, IP address, and browser or device information when its service loads.
You can control cookies through your browser. Blocking essential cookies may prevent account features from working. You can also use the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
Google advertising
TourneyFindr may use Google AdSense or related Google advertising services. When Google ad tags are active on a page, third-party vendors, including Google, may use cookies to serve ads based on a visitor's previous visits to TourneyFindr or other websites. Google's advertising cookies allow Google and its partners to show ads based on those visits, subject to the visitor's settings and any consent choices presented on the site.
Visitors can manage or opt out of personalized Google advertising through Google Ads Settings. They can also learn how Google uses information from sites that use its services. If TourneyFindr enables other advertising vendors, this policy or the site's consent controls will identify them as required.
Service providers and sharing
We use service providers to host the site and database, authenticate users, store files, deliver email, provide maps, process approved public sources, and measure site use. Current services include Supabase, Resend, Mapbox, Apify, OpenAI for limited listing extraction or verification when enabled, and Google Analytics when configured. These providers process information for the services they supply and under their own terms and privacy practices.
We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect users or the platform, or as part of a business reorganization. TourneyFindr does not sell personal information. Advertising providers may process data for advertising as explained above.
Public listings and source material
Tournament listings may be compiled from organizer submissions, provincial or association sources, tournament websites, and approved public social sources. Automated tools may help extract, compare, and enrich listing details. Listings may also be reviewed before or after publication.
Organizer details that are published for tournament registration are public. If a listing or poster includes information that should be corrected or removed, email founder@tourneyfindr.ca.
Retention and security
We keep information while it is needed to provide the service, maintain accurate listings and audit records, meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, or protect the platform. Retention can vary by record type. We use access controls and other safeguards intended to protect information, but no online service can guarantee absolute security.
Your choices
You can update many account, Team Passport, and organizer listing details while signed in. You can unsubscribe from tournament alerts using the link in an alert email or the control in Team Passport. You may ask to access, correct, or delete personal information, subject to legal and operational requirements, by emailing founder@tourneyfindr.ca.
TourneyFindr is built for team managers, organizers, and people looking for hockey tournaments. Please do not submit a child's personal information unless it is necessary, you are authorized to provide it, and you understand how it will be used.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as TourneyFindr changes. The effective date at the top of the page will be updated when the policy changes.
